John Gardner
Presidents -> John Gardner
John was elected Young Liberal State President on 20th July 2001 at the age of 22. He served three terms as President, the first since the mid 1970s. Under John's leadership, the Young Liberal Movement fought with distinction in both the 2001 Federal and 2002 State Elections in which we won some very close contests due in no small part to the Young Liberal campaign effort. John served four years on Young Liberal Executive prior to being elected President, as well as separate terms as President of both the Morialta and Unley Young Liberal Branches.
John was also a very active Liberal student on campus whilst completing his studies in humanities, serving as President of the Flinders University Liberal Association and Vice President of the Adelaide University Liberal Club. After completing his term, John continued to work in the political sphere as an adviser in the State Opposition and then the Federal Government.
